This week, Pete speaks to Jane Jameson P.S: (website is NSFW), who is a web developer, turned sex worker, who when she dumped her job, also dumped her PC and moved to a Mac.

Jane plys her trade in Sydney and talked to Pete about working in the sex industry and how she decided one day that it'd be more entertaining ...

This is an easier process than it used to be, but there are still a few gotchas to watch for. No matter if you have a laptop or a desktop, want to set something up permanently or just every now and again, your Mac can almost certainly connect to a huge screen in your living room. ...

Gather round folks, because I've got a serious question to ask you. It's not quite as bad as using your iPad or iPhone in the toilet, but, just between you and I... Do you bring your iPad to bed?

What's the big deal with Windows Phone 7? Why are all the larger fish making a huge fuss over it? It's not like we didn't know the next great version of the every popular WinMo wouldn't be huge, so what's the big idea?

As windowing interfaces get increasingly complex to meet our ever-growing window management needs, apps like HyperDock are filling in the cracks. I've mentioned HyperDock before, but it's that good it's actually worth mentioning again (perhaps not as worthy of as many mentions as that burning program, though).

Unless you're thinking of a phone that is worn on your wrist like a wristband and projects a virtual display into the palm of your hand, this iPhone Next G probably isn't what you think it is.

Virtual memory in any operating system isn't something you should really mess with, as the operating system likes to do it's own thing in terms of handling it's own memory†management. That being said, if you want to disable virtual†memory†altogether on your Mac because you're foolhardy and/or have oodles of RAM, then by all means, go right ahead.

Now that we have iPhones and iPads, touch screens are finally a mainstream technology. Trackpads have progressed from being just a pointing devices to becoming gesture devices. FaceTime may be something of a novelty to you, but take comfort in the fact that at least Australians are allowed to use it. That, unfortunately, is not the case in Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt. Today Apple confirmed these five countries won't be able to make video calls to other FaceTime-compliant devices (even over Wi-Fi), leading to some confusion over who actually blocked the capability Ė Apple (unlikely), the carriers or the countries' Governments (Apple confirms where FaceTime isnít available [Updated] - 9 to 5 Mac).

Apple is still struggling with subscriptions. On the App Store, they've been under pressure from publishers to add a complete pricing model for their readers, while their iTunes Pass service hasn't seen many sales (or releases) in the United States. It looks like the iTunes team may be looking to reverse their subscription woes by introducing a fully-fledged subscription model for music, ŗ la Spotify, who they've been trying to block from entering the United States in the past few weeks. Of course, being Australians, we shouldn't expect to see either service for quite some time (Apple Reportedly Working on iTunes Music Subscription Service - Mac Rumors).

What happens when you try to keep two iTunes libraries in harmony on two separate computers? Anything but harmony. TJ Luoma experimented with a multiple-computer synced music library that turned his once perfect library into "a 160GB mess". Now he's trying to make things right again, and writing about his experiences in a series of posts (iTunes bankruptcy, step one: The Great Purge - TUAW).

When the iPad's were first released there weren't a whole heap of options when it came to capacitive touch pens. There was the Pogo Sketch and there were imitations of the Pogo Sketch. The imitations were generally pretty poor and so the Pogo Sketch owned the market, which started largely from their product for the iPhone market. For a little while there were some rumours of patented capacitive touch styluses from HTC and I held out hope for the HTC design because the tip was finer than the Pogo. The design in the patent picture promised a pen-like design with a magnetic tip that would make it more usable for capacitive touch users but unfortunately when HTC did eventually release a stylus, it was simply a rebadged Dagi so Iím not sure whether something is still coming or whether there were problems with the design. ...

If you're blogging with Wordpress, this is a free app which works with either a Wordpress.com blog, or your own hosted Wordpress install.

For those who don't know, our friendly MacTalk website actually runs on a tailored version of Wordpress. I've always wanted a way to write my MacTalk posts out and about on the iPad, and the web editor in Wordpress is sadly lacking a touch-friendly version, so I thought I'd take the chance and have a go at the iPad version. Let's take a look.
