iPhone OS 3.0 will have Stereo Bluetooth A2DP support - which means you can send high quality music to Bluetooth devices, like cars. A new beta of 10.6 Snow Leopard was born, christened 10A314 and given to developers with a focus on testing 64-bit support for kernel extensions. MacRumours has said the release is more stable than previous efforts. World of Apple gives us detailed release notes.
Payback is a Grand Theft Auto clone for the iPhone, which is kinda cool, but personally, the controls were foreign and confusing and I'm too old to get used to something that isn't a d-pad. However, it's obviously striking a chord, as it's managed out sell Trism. They've sold 65,000 copies of Payback, and had 500,000 downloads of the Lite version. Apple released a new beta of iPhone OS 3.0 to developers. Lots of bugs fixed and general stability improved. No doubt the first of many before it's release in the middle of this year.
Skype is now out on the iPhone. It looks fantastic, works well and is free. You can only use it on wi-fi and there's a couple of weird UI bugs, but overall, it's fantastic. Grab it off the App Store.
Just when you thought you were in a computing safe haven, with your Mac and your ADSL modem's firewall - there is a worm that can infect certain models of ADSL modem routers. It infects models that use the Texas Instruments MIPS chipset running in little-endian mode. There's a couple of them out there, like all the Linksys models, a couple of D-Link devices and a smattering of random models. Check out this forum thread for more info and how to protect yourself.
ZD Net is reporting that Apple is still battling with Buzzle - you remember these guys from back in the late 90's, early 2000's, who tried to form a mega reseller chain selling Apple products, only to go bust in style owing Apple millions. Apple is going to court *again* to prove that they are not responsible for putting Buzzle into debt and deserve their money back.
