It is not often we get to report on a new Channel on Apple TV and it being a truly Australian story. However the announcement yesterday that Cricket Australia and Apple have teamed up to release an official channel on the Apple TV is something a bit different. The free channel will provide a library of cricket videos in high definition. With news features, extended highlights and archive footage. The new channel should be there on your Apple TV from yesterday.

9to5Mac have gathered a little more detail about the Apple Watch and the iPhone, following their earlier report on the Apple Watch being referenced in the beta of iOS 8.2. They now have some details on the Apple Watch companion App that will be run on the iPhone to manage the watch. From controlling layout, clock function, home screen messages they have more detail on just what you will be able to control from your phone.

You might recall the lawsuit from last year regarding the alleged anti-poaching arrangements between tech companies. While Apple, and other tech companies, reached an agreement to settle the matter it is rejected by the court following the objection of a plaintiff. Re/code is now reporting that a new settlement has been reached and that the plaintiff who objected to the first agreement is supporting the new settlement. Once the paperwork is lodged, Judge Koh will then either accept or reject the deal.

Meanwhile a new front has broken out in the legal battle between Apple and Ericsson, with Ericsson now launching a lawsuit against Apple in Texas to determine if its licensing for a wireless technology patent in fair. 9to5Mac report this follows Apple launching a claim against Ericsson over the patent.

KGI is predicting that Apple will begin using its own processors in some Macs “in the next 1-2” years. To be more specific 9to5Mac note that claim a Samsung-fabbed A10 chip will be in at least one Mac made in 2016. It is likely of course this would be a bottom end machine. If you have thoughts on Apple changing chips, then share over in the thread by ruegen about the possibility of ARM processors perhaps being used one day. It is worth noting that KGI have had a reasonable track record in the past with their predictions.

If you love your Mac Mini but just need more drive space and a fusion drive in particular, then rejoice as it seems you can now order one with a 2 TB fusion drive. The larger drive costs A$120 more than the top of the range 1TB model. 9to5Mac picked up the option being added and it is now showing at the Aussie store.

We will leave it there for today and see you all tomorrow.

    Cheers
    Shaun
