Ubisoft has revealed
Assassin's Creed: Pirates for mobile devices and tablets today at its Digital Days event in Paris.
It will, ideally, launch this year with Black Flag, while the HD upscaling of
Assassin's Creed: Liberation is slated for next year.
The mobile spin-off is set within a year of Black Flag, and has players exploring the Caribbean by sea and land in a game more suited to the short bursts of on-the-go gaming.
Players will assume the role of mysterious new protagonist Alonzo Batilla on a quest to find the treasure of legendary French pirate La Buse.
Assassin's Creed: Pirates will be a Premium app — so you'll pay for it, but there are no in-app purchases — and is aiming for a launch sometime this year, but a spokesman from the development team was purposefully vague when talking to MMGN about a release date. Ubisoft is also unsure which top-line mobile and tablet devices it will support.
