Call it champagne, call it whatever you want, but a gold iPhone is just one of those rumours that's a little hard to believe. What's the motivation behind Apple creating a gold iPhone, over all the other possible colours? Either way, MG Siegler, Rene Ritche, and AllThingsD are all saying Apple will release a gold sorry, champagne coloured iPhone next time they do their announcement event, which should happen on September 10th.

The Wall Street Journal claims Apple has asked Foxconn to ship high and low-end iPhones in early September. If you've been following the rumours thus far it's not too hard to guess which iPhone models this will be: the iPhone 5C for the low-end option, and the iPhone 5S for the high-end.

Interestingly, an analyst from KGI Securities says that while the iPhone 5C will be introduced as a cheaper option to replace the iPhone 5 (as you might expect), iPhone 4S sales will continue. I thought the whole idea of the iPhone 5C was an opportunity for Apple would get rid of all non-Lightning-equipped devices, but apparently not. Instead of the lineup being iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5S, Ming Chi-Kuo says it'll be more like iPhone 4S, iPhone 5C, and iPhone 5S.

We haven't heard much about Apple's wearable since news about iOS 7 and the new iPhone, but what we do know is that there's a good possibility that fitness industry expert Jay Blahnik has been hired by Apple to work on their upcoming wearable. Blahnik was a consultant on many Nike fitness products, and bringing that kind of expertise and experience to Apple is certainly intriguing.

Parallels 9 has been announced, and the new version will feature improved Mavericks support. There's also an improved Coherence mode, as well as install options that should make it easier for those without optical drives to get their Windows installations up and working on their Mac. Parallels 9 is currently in limited beta testing, but is expected to ship on September 5.

When it comes to portable Bluetooth speakers, the Bose SoundLink Mini is the one that sounds the best, says 9to5Mac. Their review of the diminutive speaker echoes my own experiences with one: serious sound in a portable package, and definitely something to consider if you're in the market for a portable Bluetooth speaker.

Security researchers have revealed the dangers of "Jekyll" apps, which are designed to be submitted to the App Store as seemingly innocuous apps, but which can then be exploited to exhibit malicious behaviour. The basic tests that the App Store review team run don't pick up on these apps, which can do things such as upload your address book to a remote server (albeit only with permission to access your address book in the first place).

Game of Watchcraft: Spawn of Squishy is an Australian-produced game for the iPad that pokes a little fun at World of Warcraft. It's designed in the simplistic style of the old Game and Watch devices from the 90s, and looks like a fun little title. TouchArcade has the full review.

I've largely ignored full-screen mode on apps that support it, all because it doesn't work that well with multiple displays. But with the improved multiple-display support coming in Mavericks, I might want to start looking into it, perhaps even adding full-screen support to apps that don't support it via a SIMBL plugin.

It's a shame Ashton Kutcher's Jobs was such a flop, but The Next Web has 10 Steve Jobs videos you should watch instead. Or, you should read the official biography by Walter Isaacson, if you haven't already.

    Floppy drive

I am surprised that the floppy drive was unable to read; I encountered this problem with old disk drives (like the 800 Ko). Do you know what was the problem?
