All

I thought I might start a post to see what the average uptime is for Mac OSX. Don't know if there already a thread - search didn't turn up anything, I trust the trusty admins will move this if need be.

My G4 iBook is up to 34 days, 21:55 as of 13.04 today, which is impressive.

I'm sure others can beat that -

:)

i think you could have worked the word "trust" into that once more!

"you trust that the trustworthy, trusting admins will trustfully thrust this post where it belongs! :D

Mine has been up about 45 days as a record: only 3 days so far now though.

How do you measure the uptime, and the time deducted from sleeping?

If this counts when its asleep (ibook). My longest time without a restart was about three months. I was afraid to restart it because I had restarted my ibook just after I got it and it crashed - they ended up replacing the "logic board"? After the 3 months i had to restart only because of an update. I average weeks between restarts now. The eMac in the cafe hasn't been restarted yet - and I got that about 4 weeks ago. Is there a way to check uptime?

computers get hot, burn out and die alot more often ;)

Well they do if they're PC, I don't know how that translates to Macs!

My record is 47 days.

My latest attempt was 45 and the logic board died about three weeks ago.

the machine is back now, working as per usual. I shut it down now. the time spent without the thing was not worth the uptime ego. :P

I've seen 60+ days on my iMac. Generally speaking it only gets rebooted when an update is released and requires it! :)

The record uptime in my house is 97 days for a 500Mhz iBook. It only got shut down because we were going overseas and had to! Since we've returned, it hasn't been rebooted, and that's now 55 days!

I used to run my main machine continuously between software updates, so my uptimes were often about 20-30 days.

The 47 day record was because of the lack of need to reboot or shutdown. There were no updates.

Its so much more convenient not having to wait for a machine to boot.
