I just ordered a 15Ē MacBook Pro from the Apple online Education store and it didnít ask for any sort of confirmation that Iím a student. Anyone know whatís up with this?

Nothing's up, AFAIK it's always been like that.

Yep that's always how it's done. Supposedly they sometimes check, but that would be through email or something after you've ordered. I doubt that happens often anyway.

I purchased a MBP with EDU discount from the George St store last year and all I did was say 'oh, I'm a student - can I have the discount' and they gave it to me. I offered to show them my ID, and they said it wasn't necessary!
In the past they used to be REALLY strict, but now it seems they don't really care...

My take is that it isnt justified to cross reference every education buyer, and as such; they will only do the occasional spot check. Otherwise, relying on a honest group of buyers to ensure that this isnt being abused.

Does any know if the "education discount" or similar appears on the invoice/receipt when purchasing at the apple store?
