Hi,

Just bought a 2011 Macbook Pro 13"

What gen is it??

I want to get an invisible shield for it. Will the 3rd gen fit?

Anybody have source for skins or wrist pad protector?

much thanks
kogi

It is a MacBookPro8,1. It might be considered as the 5th Gen? The 3rd gen seems to be the 2009 model.

The top enclosure is the same, however I'm not sure if the area around the trackpad is bigger than the previous models.

No worries. Nah, don't say that. The generation of Apple products is confusing sometimes.
Maybe have a look on everymac.com or ifixit.com for more info as to whether there are any defining differences between them.

They seem to make tiny changes, so it's hard to tell. I'm surprised the website doesn't say something like "3rd gen = 2009, 2010, 2011 model". Would make it much easier for everyone.

It does
Apple MacBook Pro 13 inch 3rd Gen Unibody 2009/2010 model Skin

But I was hoping that it would fit the 2011 model

I think they just put a higher resolution webcam and Thunderbolt port on the 2011 model, which doesn't make any difference when putting a skin on.

The new MacBook Pro's are externally the same as the ones released last year. So a case that would fit a 2009 or 10 MacBook pro would work on the new ones.
