got some great folder icons but not enough variants, wanna tint them to some extra hues to make up the numbers, are there any decent editors?

or a way to get the data into a photo editor?

Not quite the same as making an icon from scratch, but I use a program called pic2icon which converts .ico, .jpg and .gifs to OSX icons. Works really well.

Yeah I also use pic2icon as of yesterday too! It seems to do quite a good job! I only thought about changing the icons yesterday and I also found this site if you wish to download any already made: MAC OS X ICONS (http://interfacelift.com/icons-mac/).

Not cheap, but the best. It's a PhotoShop plug in. Brilliant.

how do you make an actual icon file ?? or is that just a blank file with the icon set to it ???
in pic2icon for example the icon data is set as the icon for the picture you got it from, not a seperate file?
