The back to school promotion offering a free 8GB ipod touch (or up to $289 cash back) with most mac purchases starts today.

What is this a sign of? New Macs on their way? Or is it just a true promotion? I thought they did this before an iPod refresh.

Fedgrub, this is a regular promotion run at the start of every academic year.

Unfortunately, the 11" MBA and Mac mini are excluded.
