Hi guys, I'm just checkin activity monitor and it says I have 9.1MB RAM free (I'm using 4GB BTW) but 2.23 inactive. How do I make this memory available? I'm confused.

Inactive RAM is RAM that was recently used but no longer required. Mac OS X keeps track of what was loaded in inactive RAM incase the content needs to be loaded again. It does this so that it is quickly loaded (it's still in RAM) instead of having to reload it from the hard drive. It's a method of speeding up the system.

Inactive RAM is essentially free RAM and will be treated as such if it is needed.
