15th October 2005, 10:19 AM
Hi all,

I am PC literate but Mac dumbv - can anybody tell me how the hell I rename a number of files in one go. On the OC it was just a matter of selecting them all and using the "rename" function.

Ny ideas would be appriciated.

I'm afraid you'll need a third-party solution like A Better Finder Rename (http://www.publicspace.net/ABetterFinderRename/). Or if you're using Tiger you could rig up an Automator action.

Or you could use wildcards in the terminal, or create a shell script.

But there are plenty of good rename apps out there. Here's another one that I like. (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12259)
