Silly question and I should know the answer, but where are the services that you can find in the file menu kept. I'd like to get rid of some, quake 3 connect for example, but I can't find them.

I got the impression they are contained in each application, so there isn't a central locaiton for them, but I could be wrong.

I have a bunch in /System/Library/Services/ - not all of them, but some.

Cheers Dana.

Most importantly it confirmed that they did finish with .service so now I can find the rogue ones I don't like. :D

Interesting. A very different approach from what I thought. I used <!-- and --> to comment out the NSServices stuff

As I understand it, OS X scans the applications in the application folder hierarchy on login to populate the Services menu. Consequently they're not straightforward to remove but you could try the application 'pearSCC' on this page (http://homepage.mac.com/walterritter/pearworks/pages/software.html) to change the keyboard shortcuts of the services that are bothering you.

Well it's certainly a niche for a clever cocoa programmer. Anyone interested?

Do a search on www.macupdate.com for ServiceManager. It is an app that lets you bind services to hotkeys, it also lets you remove services from the services menu.
