Do you think Apple or a third party will ever make an add-on for the Apple Battery charger (replacing the power prong) with a USB port to use the batteries to power an iPad/iPod/iPhone?

Is it even possible?

I doubt it - the only reason the power connector is removable is so that a plug for another country can be installed. I'd imagine that the charger is designed purely to convert 120/240VAC into the voltage required to charge the batteries, nothing else. While I'm no electrical engineer I have a hard time imagining how you could get 5VDC for USB devices OUT of a 115/240VAC INPUT.

I think he means changing out the duck head for a USB one, so 5VDC out from the 3VDC provided by the AA batteries.

Possible in theory but I bet the Apple device doesn't provide the appropriate connection to the duckhead to allow it.

Nice idea, but the circuit inside the charger wouldn't allow it.
