Apparently this is now the case

Adobe Enables Mac Hardware-Accelerated Decoding in Updated Flash Player 10.1 - Mac Rumors (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/08/10/adobe-enables-mac-hardware-accelerated-decoding-in-updated-flash-player-10-1/)

Anybody tried it yet?

Has no impact for me. :(

It's a shame ATI HD2600 hardware isn't supported in this new update. The same applies to Open CL on ATI 2600 iMacs in 10.6.

Unusually, not many graphics chipsets are supported (unlike Windows) - and most of the Macs eligible could probably handle Flash quite nicely ... another thumb down to Flash on OS X!

The graphic chipsets allowed to provide hardware decoding to the OS depends on Apple. Adobe is merely supporting the hardware that Apple allows them to.

I find a lot of sites are now posting HTML5 content, video and even (urk) ads, so no. There's is no interest for me to bother installing something I don't need especially since I view most of everything now on my iPad.
