Hi all,

Loving the new iPhone!

I was however expecting the volume controls on the apple in ear headphones to work with it. Not happening for me..

Is it just me or is this the case for others?

Cheers,
J2nd

It's just you. It's working for me. Try pushing the headphones in a little bit deeper, because the contact point for volume controls are on the end tip of the 3.5 mm jack.If it's not deep enough, it hasn't made contact with appropriate port within the audio socket. Try this first, then:

Have you tried your in-ear headphones with another device to see if the volume control works?
If it works, then most likely your iPhone 4 is faulty.
If it doesn't work, then most likely your in-ear headphones are faulty.

Have you tried the volume controls on the standard Apple headphones than came with your iPhone 4?
If it works, then your in-ear headphones are faulty.
If it doesn't work, then your iPhone 4 is faulty.

Key thing is that you push your audio jack all the way into the audio socket!

I've also found myself finding lint inside so you might want to poke around to see if there are any preventing you from getting it in.

Excellent deduction process babypoppop!

Yes, headphones with iPhone work fine. So it's the in ears which are cactus. They seem to have a life span of about a year for me.

Yes, so the volume up and down and the mic aren't working on the in ears. However the play/pause button is still working.

Anyone had this issue and any tips on trying to resurrect it?

Thanks :)

Yeah,
I had this last year... went to the Apple store and they gave the whole phone a good clean out with tweezers and compressed air. Worked a treat

Don't expect a continuous up/down volume change, you have to click the clicker repeatedly to change the volume more than a smidge.
