Well Ive searched and searched for a possible 3rd iMac design. I have no idea what it might look like so I wanna see what others think it may look like. Has anyone seen any cool prospects of what the new iMac may look like. If so please link here. Or if you've thought what would be cool post it here in words or if very talented (as most apple users are :) ) a sketch.

Personally I wouldn't be too suprised if they kept the shape and went metalic or altered it only slightly

The Box in the first pic is the breakout box that has all the ports to reduce clutter

LMAO that was the mockup that Appletalk had of the 30" monitors before they were released! Make up your minds!

Also estoyloco, i think the second-from-top pic looks cool! A mini powermac!

I'm curious as to why Apple would adopt an aluminum form factor, since it seems the colours of the consumer and pro lines were characterised seemingly by white and grey colours. But then there is the G5 to consider.

I think a cube design would be funky.

i just can't imagine a design that would be better than the current one... and no, a headless one is not better...

It was actually both. Some other site had their mockup of an aluminium display, and I just made it into an iMac. :)

i predict that it will be somewhat likelike the new monitor becaust it seems that their going for a sharp metal-like style before they relise tiger then the g6 and then the new style that will go with tiger's style. but thats just me :P
i would think they would go with somthing like that imac 3 pic but more not like shit also i'd like to point out that the mini g5 like things have 4usb ports it would be more likley that it would be auido, firewire, usb.

Whatever happens I think the iMac will not go metallic as this is one of the distinctions between the pro and consumer products.

God i hope it's a Cube G5, how cool would that be, you could have your own little Xgrid renderfarm, or even If someone ported MythTV, it'd make a wicked little HTPC!

I think if apple made the imac as one of the LCD (Pizza box) designs they could potentially capture some more business marketshare in the COMPAQ type market --> if that doesnt make sense, i mean like company computers, small business etc.. especially with all the cross platform compatibility thats happening these days..
.. cos the thing looks funky etc.. i reckon apple should develope a Point of Sale program so "COOL" places could use imacs as their cash registers, customer databases etc... Just a thought tho...

In regards to the aluminium, i think that they SHOULD go with silver, metallic, aluminium or whatever, bot NOT white, although i would agree is saying that they are seperating the pro stuff from the consumer stuff.. i think the iMac has alot of potential if it packs a bit of pucnch in terms of the pentium conterparts... so go on apple, make us a G52.0 G5...

i willl post a pic in a sec of how they are solving the G5 in iMac cooling problems....

Theres resellers out there that specialise in Point Of Sale software and hardware. I think Pentagon Digital on Whitehorse Rd in Mont Albert is one of them
