With 4.0.1... I think

EDIT: I assume when it says 'within this week' it doesn't actually mean this past week... since mine says that for week 30, and others above says the same for week 27...

EDIT PART TWO: Well ok, so we are currently in Week 30 What's the Current Week Number? (http://www.epochconverter.com/epoch/weeknumbers.php) from 25 July to 1 August... I guess mine really was 'within this week'!

I don't think I'd call it impressive but it does explain why there are stock issues. Contrary to what some people think, there is clearly not a warehouse full of stock that Apple are holding back.

My serial number starts 7R029 can't disclose the rest.On macrumours they were discussing these numbers and most were starting with 8 at the start.
Some people were changing them and were getting R and S and their was talk
That they changed something in the bottom left corner in Manafacturing.I'm guessing R= Revision...Just saying as serial number sequence changed.
800 numbers are antenna problems.

The first two digits show the factory number not what revision it is lol. For example mine is factory 85, 2010 in week 30 with the serial number 85030......Also your phone was made in week 29 which is older then mine with the "800" number.

Those of you who believe iPhones 4s are manufactured are sadly mistaken.

The truth is, iPhone 4s are conjured from a cauldron boiling with red hot molten stuff under the light of a blue moon by one of only 3 Apple employees who can perform the magic. Another employee recently tried to steal the secret and promptly got fired (Papermaster).

That's why they're rare. If they were manufactured they'd be creaky plastic bricks like those of the competition, and there wouldn't be any queues.

Cheers
Steffen.

Whilst off-topic...
This thread makes me wonder:
* How many different factories are making iPhones?
* How many iPhones each factory makes each week?

I appreciate the second point is probably harder to work out though and probably a close commercial-in-confidence secret... and we know how much Apple love their secrets?!?!?! :p

Picked up from Telstra on Friday:

Factory: 85 (China)
Production week: 31 (August)
Production number: 29338 (within this week)

I think this debunks the conspiracy theorists that reckon there's tons of stock at Apple's warehouse and they're dribbling it out to maintain the hype. The fact that my phone was manufactured within this week and delivered on Friday suggests Apple are just churning them out as quickly as their little slaves, sorry, employees will allow them to.

Cannot get the death grip to do anything but loose one bar (or two bars at max in low coverage areas). Not a single dropped call. Best phone I've ever owned!

That is the "death grip" and what the hysterics are complaining about. 2 bars drop due to signal attenuation by the human body. A back to basic physical phenomenon that affects all antenna based equipments and nothing unique to iPhone 4.
