View Full Version : Old Microsoft Works Software

I have some very old files that were written in Microsoft works 4.0 and can no longer open them.

The problem is that the old application perceives that there is not enough memory to open (due to programming limitations). In the past we just took up heaps of memory until it would open but that is almost impossible these days.

Can anyone make (reasonable suggestions) or suggest somewhere I can find a MacSE30 or Classic in Brisbane.

If I were you I would download Basilisk II for Mac OS X and try running Works 4 in that, its an emulator that allows you to run 68k Mac software.

You'll need a ROM image from an old Mac however.

Hi dianne,

Placing a WTB ad in these forums should snag you a SE or Classic

I'm pretty sure the latest version of Office:mac includes an MS Works converter - or you could also open them up on a PC running Office, which definately includes a converter for Works. Save them as a standard MS Word file, and off you go :)
