I have a video file that I want to get a good quality snapshot of. The original is HD. I wan to have a jpeg clip from a few parts of the video. What is the best way to do this?

if you're pressing Shift Command 4+Spacebar, you will be able to capture a window hovered by your mouse along with the shadow.

Leave out the space bar to grab a region

VLC has a built in snapshot tool that I've used with good results in the past (taking stills from a wedding DVD).

Thanks,

I have tried both of these methods and they work well, except the resolution is not the great.

QuickTimePro just use copy and then in Preview - New From ClipBoard ;)

If it is a HD video (720p or 1080P im guessing) just make the window 1280X720 or 1920x1080 (if your monitor supports that reso) and your screenshots will be the optimal maximum resolution with a screen grab.
