Hey guys,

This afternoon I noticed that there's a hairline crack (a pretty long one) to the left hand side from the MacBook logo on the hinge.

From reading online, i found similar forum postings addressing the same issue:

13-inch Alum. MacBook Hairline Cracks on Hinge - Philippine Mac Users Group (http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=50658)

Aluminum Macbook Hinge hairline cracks........ - Mac Forums (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=739298)

Cracks on my unibody Macbook hinge: is this covered under warranty? - Mac Forums (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=755540)

Now, there are a few that have some insane cracks, mine is more on the line of this one here... (however, after inspecting my MacBook, the crack is longer on mine).

When I get back to my place, I'll take a proper picture of the crack with my camera.

I'll take it to Apple ASAP to get it checked out and I'm covered by Applecare, so I'm okay, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar issues with their aluminum unibodies?

I've got something similar, it's just a scratch isn't it?

EDIT: Ok, looked at some of the other links, there's definitely some scratches, but I'm not convinced the last link you posted (which resembles what I've got) is anything but a scratch.

Perhaps I'm wrong, definitely worth investigating.

Apple understand that this is a developing issue...
Normally happening in area's with high humidity (although the data is still being gathered so this might be a red herring..)

Take it into your nearest service centre and book it in so they can communicate with Apple directly about your issue. You might be surprised at the result... :-)

I've felt it, it's not a scratch. Plus, what would I have done to scratch it like that?

UPDATE:

Apple's replacing the whole top half of my MacBook. They have identified that it's been a problem before, so if you have the same problem, take it in. :)
