Hi everyone,

I need to play some movie files that .wmv extensions and they dont play in media player, so i purchased the Flip4Mac or as it is called once installed WMV Player.

When i open the files i am left with a white window in quicktime with no sound and it plays, but i cant actually see or hear anything.

In media player when i play the files i get this error: "Cannot open the file. Verify that the path and filename are correct and try again".

I dont understand what is going on. Any ideas on what is wrong.

Thanks, and any suggestions would be great!

After referring to this thread: xhttp://forums.appletalk.com.au/index.php?showtopic=11452

I downloaded and attempted the file in VLC and got this message:

"main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `WMV3'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format."

Any way of getting the decoder for this type of file?

Thanks again,

Adam.

Try a Windows machine?

Does the WMV file contain any DRM? Can you give the link to it and I'll try it here.

Its a file my friend sent me, dont even really know what it is, thought it was a trailer for something but what trailers have .wmv3 codecs on them.

Anywhere i can download other .WMV3 files from to see if they work?

Stick "+flip4mac +wmv3" into Google and there's a few links. One of them is on the Flip4Mac forums and has comments from the developer. Perhaps asking on there (http://www.flip4mac.com/fusetalk/forum/) may produce a more detailed response.
