According to this story, the microsim was a bad idea but this is becoming ridiculous now Apple

What a load of shit. iPad SIM will work just fine in an iPhone 4. It's the exact same form factor. The telco may block it somehow, or charge you a different rate, but I promise you, you can take the SIM in your iPad 3G and put it in an iPhone 4 and unless the telco has specifically locked that SIM to your iPad (none in AU have).

P.S: it's from the Gadget Guy, don't believe a word spewing from that PR machine.

Face->palm.

Turns out Jezper Söderlund is the guy who asked if the iPad could tether with the iPhone, way back when:

Hey Steve, can the iPad tether with the iPhone? -- Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/05/hey-steve-can-the-ipad-tether-with-the-iphone/)

Steve Jobs tells Swedish DJ that the iPad won't tether to the iPhone | 9 to 5 Mac (http://www.9to5mac.com/jobs-swedish-iphone-43609634)

The Gadget Guy couldn't tell you what half the stuff he writes about actually means.

I'd feel more confident receiving tech advice from a lump of coal instead.

Has GadgetGuy run out of Hawaiian shirts to iron?

I did actually see something from Telstra when I got my MicroSim for my iPad that it could only be used in an iPad and that if the card was put into a different device a different rate would be charged. Telstra must have a way of identifying which device the sim is in.

Has anybody actually gone all MediaWatch on the whole GadgetGuy empire being built on lies? Jonathan Holmes is quite active on twitter these days - if I had a public account I'd engage him on the subject it and see what his feelings are.
