Kudos to the guy who rippled out the 3G antenna of his iPad and slipped in a Verizon MiFi (http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/14/verizon-mifi-surgically-implanted-in-ipad-to-create-worlds-firs/). So the iPad now has WiFi hotspot functionality.

It's in there, er somewhere.

He's got guts I'll give him that. No way would I split my ipad open though, considering there's no screws!

WTF? Wouldn't you be wanting your iPad to receive a connection, rather than generate one?

Or am I missing something here?

Take it one step further with a App for turning off the MiFi.

It sends out a signal the same as any WiFi hotspot on the road or at home. So by turning on WiFi in Settings it would find the MiFi and use it to connect.

It gives it the ability for any other Wifi device such as other iPads, laptops, iPhones etc, to connect to it and share its internet connection (tether). Then you only need one SIM and internet connection for multiple devices.

That would take some guts, and planning no doubt. Haha i would be so scared pulling apart the iPad let alone changing bits and pieces. :0

Can't the iPhone do this through software... so why can't the iPad?
