My (brand new) Mac has just started beeping every 5th time I press the shift key.

It's in line with the system volume (so I can turn it up, down and mute it). Also, it's a 2 tone beep (low then high).

No Google luck. Any ideas?

Your turning sticky keys on and off.
Go to system preferences and under Universal Access you can turn it off.
I think it's under keyboard within accessibility.

I thought Sticky Keys was Windows only.... woops.

Ok, so I've turned it off (as below) and it's still beeping...

Just worked it out. Turns out I WAS actually turning on Sticky Keys in Windows. I forgot a had an RDP session open to my Windows 7 server in the background.

All fixed now. That was weird.

at least the sticky keys were only software ;)
