Hi All

I am moving to a new MBP from my current Aluminium MacBook.

Looking for the best solution to migrate my entire data over to the new machine.

I know that there is a migration assistant in the OS X setup, but I want to be able to take the entire drive that I have and basically transplant/ clone the contents to the new drive.

I also want all my current programs and settings to transfer over as well.

Any suggestions on the best way to do this?

Thanks

I use Migration assistant to do exactly what you have stated.
I have done it by connecting two computers together or using Time Machine (make sure TM is set to back up everything).
Both work just as well.

Will this work when you are going from one mac to another? My concern is weather or not things like my version of Mac Office will work as it will be on a new machine?

Thanks

Yep it works if you tell it to transfer everything.
Some of my software usually asks for a serial number again as it detects a change in hardware.
This usually happens with Adobe's apps.
