Wired was yesterday, and today is The Monthly, an Australian current issue mag.

It's pretty much what I want from a digital magazine. It's not a PDF. It resembles the the print edition and the iBook layout. It's focus is content, not eye candy. It's fantastic.

It's very effective and is cheaper than the print edition! (print edition is $8.95 and a 11-issue subscription is $59.95 ($5.45/issue)

Don't think I will renew my dead-tree subscription now!

Wow what a great review. Can I just add that the app is free on the iPhone + iPad and you get the March 2010 Magazine free too!

Also the app was made by us :P Bonobo (http://bonobolabs.com)

Wow. That does look nice. I think I'll be reading a few more magazines now they're going digital, and from what I see here, The Monthly's going to be one of them.

The word "porn" was censored from that screenshot, as "p#rn". Is that how they really printed it, or is the iPad version censored?

All over the place - depends who is writing. There's more lefty stuff than conservative I guess.

Not good. Much as I'm looking forward to the iPad, adults should be able to read adult words in an app on one. Does anyone know if books in iBooks are similarly censored?

Very much looking forward to The Monthly on iPad. I always pick up the print one when traveling for work.

Sorry to change subjects slightly, but the censor issue in iBooks is a big one for me. Lots of mainstream stuff like Stephen Kings latest - Under the Dome contain lots of swearing. Apple can't seriously censor that.... can it?

It's a revolution I tells ya.

This is terrible, I never knew they censored stuff but the more I google, the more anecdotes I find. Perhaps it's better to use Amazon's Kindle application.

I've got a book I bought from Apple that contains about fifty profanities per page, all uncensored.

Nah, it's per issue at the moment.
