Why does the camera have to be 5 megapixel? It could be larger and have a better sensor too :)

Seakip
17th May 2010, 06:20 PM
I reckon it will be 5MP.

The original iPhone/3G had a 2MP while we were moving to 3MP, the 3GS had 3MP when we were moving to 5. Were moving so 8, so I'd assume the iPhone will get a 5.

OmniVision has made a new 14.6-megapixel image sensor which could be adopted but Iím not sure how good the sensor is. They also have a 5MP that shoots RAW which could change things too.

14.6 mega pickles packed into a sensor not bigger than your thumbnail (if that)?

Imagine the grain on that...

I assumed when he said "both types of no" he meant physical camera flash and software flash.

Yeah. Give me a 3MP camera, but make it look good. MP do not equal quality.

Yeah, I automatically assumed they have a decent sensor to go with the high megapixel count.

5MP is a sweet spot providing they improve the sensor for low light although they could just market sensor quality and go with 3MP.

thats awesome

I won't bother with the iphone predictions as it has been leaked, and I reckon the macbook and macbook air will both be updated before WWDC.

So, for my interesting and non obvious others:

Gray Powell introduces Steve Jobs, hands him his resignation
iWeb to be massively updated as a mind numbingly easy to use HTML5 web editor and flash killer. Works with windows too.
Updated AppleTV (about damn time) with subscription service for TV shows (US only)

edit: and ichat mobile will be wifi only initially, just to keep AT&T from shitting their pants.

Doubt it.

The thing is, people always assume they're be packing all these product announcements and product updates into the keynote, when, in reality, WWDC is all about the developers. Sure, we'll see OS 4's reintroduction and/or release (or at least it's Gold Master, judging by the current beta releases), and we'll probably see the announcement of the next-gen iPhone (available a month after WWDC).

There's an outside chance that we'll see anything MobileMe related, and you can pretty much forget about any other product announcement/updates - Mac Pro? Forget it - there's no way they need to have an segment at WWDC for that when they can just silently update the store like they did with the MacBook (but wether that was due to the leak only Steve knows).

TLDR; WWDC is for developers. Anything else takes a backseat.

TLDR; WWDC is for developers. Anything else takes a backseat.

Who will be building iPhone HD apps: Developers
What do developers use: MacPro's
Who do you want to sell your amazing new cloud computing service to: Developers (expecially if there are any API's in it - which i doubt)

Developers, Developers, Developers!

Nah, last update was at MacWorld 2009. iLife's (iLives?) are never shown at WWDC. I'm betting they just skipped a year because of the iPad development. A new one (and iWork) will probably show up later this year/early next year.

I've changed my mind. I'm going for a MacBook Pro 13" :)

I had a 1.83GHz Mini for a couple of years ago, and was looking to replace it a couple of weeks ago, and got an MBP 13" instead - haven't regretted it at all.

The biggest factor for me was the MBP has better integrated graphics than the current Mac Mini offerings.

For Australia, about a month*. However we've only had a release twice, so I wouldn't necessarily call it a trend. Could be two weeks, could be two months. However, if there's one thing we know about the next iPhone it's that it's well into manufacturing, so it could be on the low end.
