I'm Jabiru on Steam, don't play much though.

My step-son borrows my account to use when he's here (so it may not be me online).

I'm having issues though, steam says buy once and use on both and it says Civilization IV Warlords is available for mac and pc in the store and I own it for PC but when I go to download it it tells me it's not available for this platform?

Also It won't download Portal, says the Steam servers are overloaded...

no idea what your going on about here since the download speeds are depicted by the server that you are downloading off that the fact that it is on osx. I was able to get a gamearena server pushing the content at the max speed my net can do 1.2mb/s which is the same that it does on my windows machine.

For some reviews of performance for the so inclined i've been playing torchlight all day since purchasing it during the christmas special 5 months ago haha and it works just fine.
if you look really hard you will notice the slow downs and graphical differences since its not running off directx and on a 13" mbp with the basic graphics it all works fine with all the settings turned up at 1280x800. it does get a bit choppy when alot if going on but this is with anti-aliasing on and i could just turn it off but dont really care.

im yet to try a source engine game on the basic 9400m graphics will have to see how that fares a bit later.

You can use your 360 controller on Windows if you buy their ridiculously priced dongle. Don't think it works on Mac though.

Nah, this is an actual wired controller which works beautifully on Windows. Have never bothered trying it with a Mac because, well, there were no games I wanted to play on Mac. I guess I could just bootcamp for games, might be easier than fiddling around trying to get it to work on the Mac. Plus I've got Project 64 floating around somewhere which lets me relive Super Mario 64 :)

hello, steam won't be able to connect if your connection is blocking the ports it uses such as at universities or schools etc.

if your at home disable ur firewall.

ps for people that are new to this since your downloading the first source game on your machine it has to be a large download. if you go to install half life 2 later on or team fortress 2 it wont download all the source files again.

*Do not read if you haven't finished Portal & HL2 ep2 - not really a spoiler but still.... *

I am very interested to see how they are going to cross over Half Life Ep 3 and Portal 2 now that i have finished both Portal & Ep2.

My hopes are for Chell from Portal to run into Gordon on the Borealis just like how they used to do it in Blue Shift and Opposing Force, just a quick cameo.

i played through all of portal last night this gave me a good excuse to get at it again since it only takes about an hour to finish the whole thing(if your like me and know how to solve all the puzzles) on my mpb 13" mid 2009 with the 9400m graphics chip.

was at about 30-40 fps at 1280x800 resolution with it all set to low and no AA i wasnt expecting that much from the chip anyway but at 30fps at least you won't notice any stutter, the key is stable fps not high fps.

I already owned it from playing in Windows 7, and surprisingly, it actually runs better in OSX! I've got everything pumped up as high as it will, go, including FSAA, and its smooth and clear as i could wish. On Windows i have to turn off FSAA and VSync to get the same performance.

its brilliant :)

...of course, Steam Community ingame doesnt work with Torchlight, but i dont think that'll take too long to fix.
