Hi Guys,

Im not sure if its possible but what I would like is a script that when a file finishes downloading in Transmission it is added to a text file of files, at which point a scheduled script uses handbrake to convert each file into a iPad compatible file.

Any ideas of the best way around it?

If you find a solution elsewhere could you please post it here as I'd be interested as well?

I'd use Transmission's built in file management (keeping incomplete files in a separate folder to completed ones) and then use Applescript/Automator to watch the "completed" folder and then run a script that calls Handbrake's command line to do the conversions.

The Applescript would be pretty easy to set up, and you could use a script like the one found at the bottom of Filthy Pants: A Computer Blog: Monitoring a Directory to Automatically Invoke HandBrake (http://filthypants.blogspot.com/2009/05/monitoring-directory-to-automatically.html) to do the conversion.

Edit: videoengine (http://code.google.com/p/videoengine/) and Transcoding Machine (http://code.google.com/p/transcoding-machine/) look like they will do all the heavy lifting for you.
