Hi all,

Please excuse me if this is being posted in the wrong spot.

I recently downloaded a mac software update right at the end of the download a window informed me that 'system extension cannot be used' and quoted the following "system/library/extensions/thomson.usblan-usbpart.kext" And advised me to uninstall and reinstall!. I have a MacBook Pro. As far as I can tell, it isn't stopping me from doing anything..except download the updates.

Thanks in advance.

Kylie

You're using a wireless-broadband dongle for your internet access, aren't you?

Unfortunately, those USB "3G internet" dongles have drivers that are always breaking whenever Apple update the OS. You're going to need to borrow a friend's wired ethernet connection or use a normal wifi access point to complete the installation of the updates, and visit the Thomson website to see if there's an updated driver for your USB internet dongle. Once you have the newest drivers for that dongle, everything should be back to normal.
