Hello everyone,

The guys here at work all share (subscribe) to a couple of work related calendars (ie. meetings, presentations). The original calendars all sit on the reception computer, the problem we have is that we would love the ability to modify the calendar from our desktops, rather than getting reception to do it all the time. Is there a way of doing this through iCal, or does anyone know of a program that will allow is to modify shared calendars?

Any ideas would be good.
Cheers!

Hrmmmm, something like Calcium (http://www.brownbearsw.com/calcium/FeaturesList.html) might work... I haven't tried it (no need), but it looks like it might do what you need.

Some links on the Wikipedia iCalendar entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICalendar) might also provide ideas or solutions.

I think your best bet is going to be using a Web interface to a script that modifies the calendar XML hosted on your server, then have every participant subscribe to that calendar using iCal. This is what yinyang's suggestion does, only on a server that you don't control.

Hi ying yang, we currently use icalx to upload the calendars, but when you subscribe it only allows you to read the calendars not modify.

I'll use the recommendations that Squozen suggested and let you know how I go...

Have you tried a commercial solution called Now Contact and Up To Date from http://www.nowsoftware.com

I have a customer running it and using Palm devices as well. It is a bit fiddly to set up but works well once going.

how about if you share the login/password for the publishing of the iCal, so that when you subscribe from iCalx, you're all logging in as the creator and thus should have write rights on the calendar, and so are able to make changes and republish back up to iCalx (hope that makes some sorta sense :))

Hi,
I recommend Now Up to Date and Contact.
http://nowsoftware.com
It does precisely what you want (client / server) and it is easy to set up.
It works like a charm on both OS 9.x and OS X mixed networks.

Meeting Maker would also do the job. Anyone use this?
