I want to burn some files to CD but when I insert a blank disk I get a pop up to select an application. If I select finder I get an error 0x80020025, and I don't want to use iTunes or Disk utility either..

Searching apple.com/support gives NO hits on this error

I believe I should get an icon on the desktop and be able to drag/drop files onto it but I don't get the desktop icon

Any ideas? Does this suggest my drive is kaput?

TIA

I think the error is that Finder is not recognising the drive. You could try a CD/DVD Burn application such as "Burn" found at Burn - Home (http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html)

I remembered from ages ago, this problem affecting 10.4 users, and looked for a forum entry at CreativeCow Creative COW (http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/71/848525) says that you could also get around it by going to "force quit" and restart Finder. (CreativeCow is a great resource for those playing with video on their Macs)

Also, Googling "osx 0x80020025" will provide you with more than enough information about the problem. osx 0x80020025 - Google Search (http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=osx+0x80020025&btnG=Search&meta=&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=)

thanks mmulhern for the quick answer.. I did a Google and resetting PRAM seemed a frequent suggestion. I did that and it worked! I now when I select show in finder I get the nice CD icon on the desktop :)
