Its a fairly big one, I've just downloaded and am syncing as we speak, I should get a chance to test it out today whilst out on the road. I'll report back soonish. I've had a soft spot for NDrive (http://www.ndriveweb.com/iphone/) but it never lived up to my hopes. Perhaps this update will see it mature enough to be seriously considered.

Here's the iTunes link (http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/ndrive-australia-new-zealand/id332010002?mt=8)

[Noted during setup] Downloadables from the store. Currently everything is free including safety cameras and voices (there isnt much there yet, but I would expect that to improve in time)

Back this evening :)

OK, we now have
a) TTS: Karen, an Aussie voice. Its a bit funny at times, one wants to laugh when Karen spells CR as 'see-ar" and RD as "ar-dee" although she gets road right most of the time. Other abbreviations seem to be beyond her, but also to be noted is that it seems random. The sentences are not free-flowing and seem even more stilted than those found on Mocal.
b) Speed warnings appear to work: its just a dingdong, but it corrected me as I went over 60 in a 60 zone. I didnt speed for the rest of the time.
c) Cameras: speed camera was visible on the map but no warning ensued and then not 5 minutes later, a fixed redlight cam was warned "Fixed camera" and a dingdingding as I passed it.

Conclusions: warnings exist but are not reliable.

d) Schoolzones... no, not yet.

Accuracy of navigation: nope. Sadly, the app crashed at one stage when it was struggling to complete voice direction... I'd get a bit of voice, then another bit, and then pouf it was gone. I did not try to take it off course, it just seemed to get confused. when I restarted the app, it placed me in the right location but wanted me to go in completely the wrong direction... this is something which occurred in the last incarnation as well.

The appearance has changed a bit. We no longer have the very large blue direction graphics, but now smaller green ones. I liked the bigger ones better, and the pale blue on black was more immediately visible if you had any doubt about a direction, a quick glance would sort you out. Now, its a longish squint when you reach the traffic lights if they happen to be red. Otherwise you are SOL.

I'm not sure the update has been really worthwiler, but again, NDrive is heading in the right direction, and their new price of $39.95 AUD isnt too bad.

Looks like they made up much of the speed out of thin air. Won't trust it.

The saving isn't worth it. I'm afraid their concentration on features at the expense of accuracy has completely lost me.

You'd be better off with Mocal, or even PDMaps worldwide.

I will keep looking at their updates though, and report on what I find... they were kind enough to offer a code so I could get it $0, its the least I can do, and if the application improves, I'll be the first to say so.
