Is there an app that allows you to view the file system of the iPhone?

I'd love to check out the file structure of my iPhone.

The HTC and Nokia phones I've recently owned had third party apps that allowed full access to the hard drive.

IMHO this is an essential requirement.

Your only option to see the file structure would be to jailbrake. To be honest, it's not really anything of interest. Definitely not worth the effort.

If you are on a Mac you can get this desktop companion application

PhoneView Website (http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/)

Thanx. You have been helpfull.

I'm tempted, even bought the license to biteSMS before realising that I needed to have jailbroken my lovely new iPhone before I can even get access to my new purchase - sux eh?

But, until I understand much more about JailBreaking, I'll leave it alone.

That's not strictly true, there are apps such as iPhone Explorer (http://www.iphone-explorer.com/), and Phone View as mentioned above.

The first thing to understand is that the only apps you can buy that will work on an iPhone are from the iTunes App Store. If you're buying from websites or other services then you can be sure they are for a jailbroken phone.

iClarified and the iPhone Dev Team are the best places to start reading.
