Is there any way to improve the look of iCal. For a Mac program it is pretty boring. Can you not get theme add ins or allow you to use a photo as a backdrop to a day in the calendar? I've never regretted changing from PC to Mac one little bit but there were a few neat third party proggies on the PC for Calendars that looked really cool.

Hey PCKid,

iCal is not skinnable, and a lot of the UI is static to avoid having visibility problems.

There's also a lack of 3rd party software for mail/calendaring. The most popular is entourage (part of MS Office for Mac), which is being replaced by Outlook in 2011; but all of these solutions still have static, non-customisable displays

Daylite 3 Productivity Suite: The Most Powerful Business Productivity Manager (http://www.marketcircle.com/daylite/) is also good; but same, it's all business ;)

BusyCal - Share Calendars on a LAN and sync with Google Calendar (http://www.busymac.com/)

Its like iCal Pro ;-)

Depending on what you're aiming for you can also use products like iDeskCal (Web Site Here (http://hashbangind.com/ideskcal.php)) to put a customised view of your calendar on your desktop.

agreed - ical is boring! but i have used it for years and it syncs well between my 2 macs and iPhone etc - though why is the shading on 'today' so light blue - has annoyed me forever
