Noticed in the specs for iPad that it has BT:
Wi-Fi + 3G model

UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
Data only2
Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n)
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR technology
Am wondering if the 3G model can answer voice calls using a Bluetooth headset? ?

You have the answer yourself. It's DATA ONLY. However, I think you should be able to do VOIP call with bluetooth headset.

Skype probably, but there is no "phone" app. You can't make or receive mobile calls on it.

Thanks all
Skype is not a bad compromise!

If jailbroken this could technically do phone calls right?

Yes, that ought to be possible.

no, jailbreaking the ipad wont allow you to make phone calls over the mobile network.

Network operators are able to disallow such things like an mobile phone call and since you'll be getting a data only plan with the ipad (or at least I assume you will) you wont be able to make phone calls.

From the experience of people who have ripped open 3G modems and put the SIM card into a standard phone, I think it is very unlikely that the network would bother to block voice calls.

Why would they? They can charge you the full rate for voice calls (that is, the '$150' that could cost you $30 on a Cap plan) and make extra money from you!
