View Full Version : Has Apple "turned Off" Software Update For 10.2?

Hi guys.

We've got a couple of 15" 800MHz G4 iMacs at work here, all running 10.2.8 (no point in upgrading because their lease is expiring soon), but we've been having a problem with Software Update.

Basically, they can connect to the network fine and browse websites (via the proxy) no problems...but they won't connect to Software Update. It gives a "Software Update was unable to connect.....please check your config" error (or similar).

I figured it was a one-off, but I recently wiped one and re-installed 10.2 (for an unrelated reason) and had the same problem when I went to run Software Update.

Has anyone experienced this before? Could it be related to the proxy (ie: Software Update doesn't like going through it?) The proxy settings are all correct and all our 10.3 and 10.4 machines connect to Software Update via the proxy no problems.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Looks like you'll have to update, just so you can sell the machines.
