Trying to figure out how big 9.7 inches really is, and bored at work, so I opened up Illustrator and drew up a template the size of the iPad so I could print it out and get an idea.

Hight and width are to scale, thickness and weight are not.

Could I achieve the correct weight and thickness by glueing multiple pages together?

A piece of paper is 0.01mm thick and weighs approx. 5g for reference (but you would also have to take into consideration the weight of the glue and and weight of the paper removed by cutting it into shape.
