Ipod touch with camera.

All so I think there may be a price drop in the MBP range.

Following MacRumours excellent Mac Buyers guid (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/)e, the following items could be updated..

Mac Pro - "Don't Buy - Updates soon"
iPhone - "Buy only if you need it - Approaching the end of a cycle"
LCDs - "Don't Buy - Updates soon"

Aperture X sounds pretty likely however, considering a "how to" book was recently leaked and pulled on Amazon

You do realise that the MBP line was price cut at the introduction of the Macbook Unibody? For example the 17 inch model was cut from $4000 to $3299.

They're probably just doing maintanence, and to update the shipping status of the i7 iMacs and remotes. (lol I wonder if Apple influenced Intel to name their new chips with the 'i' prefix. hahaha)

Would love to see:
- wireless keyboard with numpad
- i5/i7 for MBP
- new MacPros (though this will be obvious if you follow iNtel's roadmap)

would really like to realistically see:
- Apple matching prices to coincide with AU$

PS good idea for making a ZOMG APLE STORE IS DOWN !!1!!111!1 thread!

The powerbook G5 joke never gets old, maybe becasue there is alwasy about 4 months bettween its use so that it never gets old. That and the technology is getting more advanced so the plea for this Dinosaur make it all the more funny.

Au store back up now

hope for new iPhone GS with bigger drive, better camera, ...
news of the annual Thanksgiving specials for hardware & software??

but can't agree with Beau

Plenty of deals in the refurb section; get in quick. :-)

Apple Refurbs AU (AppleRefurbAU) on Twitter (http://twitter.com/applerefurbAU)

because just a few weeks ago the new iMacs (with prices reflecting the better exchange rate) were released cheaper than the old model refurbs

so why don't they reduce the refurb prices to at least the new models' cheaper prices??

(probably because every so often they catch a mug thinking they have a bargain!)

I'm working on the refurb tracker right now, and it's failing because the store is down.

I'm hoping we can speed it up, so it checks the store every 5 mins from now on, but I can't test the new server until Apple gets their shit together

I hear you brother. 70% in 10 days. How about a magic mouse that comes with one of those inductive chargers that is the mouse mat. Therefore it charges as you use it, or leave it on the mat o/n. Now that would be an apple product.

marc
15th November 2009, 09:21 PM
I'd buy either that or a wired MM. Both would work. To be honest, I don't see much advantage in a wireless mouse and keyboard for an iMac or Mac Pro. It looks nicer in product photos, but apart from that there's not much benefit.

That actually seems quite likely. If that is the case, I'm guessing that it will start at $599 for 16GB Wi-Fi and go right through to just over $1k for the top of the line 3G 64GB iPad.

Get a good night's sleep and wake up to all the news tomorrow.

Mac Pro or MacBook Pro, I can't see anyone rushing to buy, given the 27" iMac problems. On the other hand, it appears that those who ordered day-of got good machines and those that waited a while suffered.

All the same, best to wait for reports to come in, a month or two. Parting with your hard-earned-cash for a problem stings as long as you own the machine.

Nice to have SOME Apple news for Macworld Expo, though.

And with no mention that it (clearly) is the US price. I don't think Apple's lawyers approve. That said, would be a nice 'gift' to Australia for the continued rip-off with the computers.

Incorrect. Prior to today's change the the iPad section of the site had a "Pricing" tab with clear listing of the US prices.

Notably, the UK iPad site does not list prices at all.

I think they really are starting at AU$499...

Edit: Actually the price text is an image that is identical to the image that was used on apple.com/ipad from the 21/02/2010. Someone probably forgot to update it and may be facing a flogging.

The au store domain has always been store.apple.com/au the /133-MAC address has been redirecting for ages now.

I wouldn't be surprised if the base model iPad is actually $499 AUD. More than a 32gb itouch but less than a 64gb. Also prices it well under the 16GB 3GS iPhone.

Just don't expect the other models to match up 1:1 to the US pricing ;) It's that magical "starting from less than $500" thing.

Two years this month since Apple hired a new team for the Mac Mini (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/03/21/mac-mini-not-dead-yet/) (and Apple has a two year product cycle). Much as we need new MacPros and MacBooks - my vote is for a unibody Mini !!

While they're at it, might as well update the whole line under the radar. Apple want all the news to be iPad at the moment.

and yes, icanhaz iCar?? - should be unibody, too, though, this is a 1999 design, people…

I agree we are on the ass end of the map, however, I think it would be easier just not having new models apply during a promo. Because even if machines are announced tonight, students can cancel their existing orders, place new orders with new models, pay a deposit and wait.

Another theory of mine is, they don't want to have a disaster launch like they did with the 27" iMac's and stock issues.

One would assume its international iPad pricing. I have a feeling that the wait for new MacBook Pro's isn't due to the MacBook Pro team being tardy, but that Apple wants to update all of their Macs at once, and if they bumped the iMacs back in march a lot of people would have cried foul. I say new Macs, iLife and iWork in Mid April. And just for a little extra spice, the iPhone OS 4.0 event on April 7, U.S. time.

That GPU appears to be a bit of a let down.

The Nvidia GeForce GT 335M is a laptop graphics card for middle class gaming notebooks. It features 72 cores - and therefore a lot more than the 48 cores of the GT 330M. Compared to the GTS models, the GT 335M does not support GDDR5.

Let's see what the online stores say. Could be hours, though. And I don't think anybody expects much of an upgrade this time around do they? What are we looking at 20% speed increase?

Now if they had a touch screen… maybe next year. Looks like X.7 is delayed too (Gruber says not this WWDC). I see that as a good sign. I'm hoping for a full Touch Mac OS and no more keyboards on any Macs (bluetooth optional, of course).

I expect at least SOME reason from you... but that's just plain pants.

As I've said before - a touch screen desktop computer will not work. As an example - sit at your desk and hold your arms up to your screen for 5 minutes.

Health and safety in the work place would tell you to get nicked. Sure it would look cool... but it's not a practical use of touch tech. Go into a store that sells those touch screen Sony systems and have a play. Then go to the bathroom and once you are finished throwing up at how bad an experience it was wash your hands because every adult has had a play with that and most kids too.

:p

They'll all be lying down flat on the table (it's the only way it can work). iPad is the starter drug. Once we get used to the idea, that will propagate throughout the line. The only source to get the iPad screen size correct also said there'd be a 22" Touch iMac before the end of the year. I agree that's too soon, but I can dream.

It’s a breakthrough technology from Apple that switches graphics processors on the fly to give you performance when you need it (when you’re playing the latest 3D game, for example) and better battery efficiency when you don’t (such as when you’re reading email)." mean that Apple has their own way of implementing the feature of nVidia's optimus technology?

FAIL. Same here :(
Was hoping for a quad 13"...Oh well :(

Mobile quad doesn't exist.
EDIT: Seems they do, but it is an i7 Extreme chip, engraved at 45nm and uses about twice the power of the regular i7.

Also thermal requirements of the 13" probably don't allow for the hotter running i5/i7 chips.

Link still broken,... strange.

It's fixed. Just comparing the i5 and i7,.. doesn't seem to be a lot in it:

lol yeah, all that time waiting for the link and I ended up going with the 17" anyway. $250 difference in the configuration I wanted for bigger screen, higher res and better battery.

Win/Win - i7 MBP! Whoo!

Looks like my AppleCare and Remote will ship separately. 19/04/2010 - 23/04/2010 estimated on CTO MBP.

gotta be done:

Diging up an old post, but I'd LOVE to see someone actually make a MacBook Pro or PowerMac that looked like this. Just for shits and giggles.
To make it even more awesome, they should take it to an Apple Genius bar and say there's a overheating issue >.<

Anyone know what the new 'inertial scrolling' means?

Any particular advantages to paying extra for the higher-res screen? just slightly more real estate or an advantage with video?

Sounds like the iphone's scrolling mechanism, which would be sweet!

I'm stuck in the same situation... I think it's really worth it if you will be using it :)
