In the spirit of giving thanks to those who help us out, I would like to nominate Ration (Blargsoft > Ration > Public Beta (http://www.blargsoft.com/ration/beta/)) for "awesome free software of the week" (a completely unofficial award I just made up).

Completely home-grown by a one-man development team, it tracks your internet usage (on most Australian ISPs) reliably and attractively and sits out quietly out of the way.

I think a common problem amongst Mac users is the lack of appreciation for free software. We live in a world where quality software is plentiful and often free but we have become complacent.

So today, I appreciate forum-member Jedda for his hard work on a great app.

Thanks.

[And if you aren't using Ration, check it out: http://www.blargsoft.com/ration/beta/]

Isn't it being discontinued?

*Sniff*

Unless you are with TPG... and it's now BÝrked since TPG changed the Webpage that Ration had to scrape it's data off.

I really do like Ration.

Seriously? Second-hand "vibes". Come on!

Ration still works (except for TPG - that was what made me remember how much I liked it!) and is, as far as I am aware, still being developed. It is an insult to the developer to write it off based on "vibes" from a third-party.

I'd have to give Ration the award for most unsupported product ever, with a runner up in the overpromised and under-delivered category.

You get what you pay for.

Personally I like it. It's a great app.
