Hey All,

Dunno if there is something obvious that i am overlooking that would remedy this problem (i hope so!), but when i installed Tiger a couple of days ago (doing a clean install) it seems to have changed dramatically the look and feel of any text displayed by the computer. Be it in Safari, the Finder or even iTunes, my text now looks, well, its hard to describe, but it seems to be more 'bloated' than usual, like everything is on bold setting. Has this occurred to anyone else? And is there any easy way to revert back to how things used to look under Panther?

Cheers guys,

Tom

Have you checked both Display settings and Universal Access settings in System Preferences to make sure they're standard/zoom off for that screen?

In the Appearance settings in System Preferences, set the font smoothing to "Standard - Best for CRT" and that'll fix your problem. I don't know why the LCD setting is so shite, the CRT one looks far better.

LCD looks far better to my eyes, but it's a personal preference. Some people like subpixel rendering, some don't.

Thanks Guys, that did the trick.

Now, for the uneducated (that being me), what is this 'Font Smoothing' thing? Im curious as to what it does and why you can play around with the settings.

Cheers,

Tom
