I am new to mac, and I went through some topics that mac does not have a WMV9 video software right now.

I try quicktime upgrade page, but dont see too much about this. Or it is just I miss the right topic?

what about other "new" video formats? such as MPEG4 etc, or where can I locate some mac software to open these kinds of videos?

If you're like me, and you don't want to have to open up different players to open certain filetypes, then here are a couple of good codecs for you to install: Flip4mac (http://www.flip4mac.com/) - plays wmv in quicktime (but not WM9 afaik)
3ivx (http://www.3ivx.com/) plugin for quicktime for a few avi's

I'm still in the habit of using Mplayer and VLC though, as there are a few videotypes that only they seem to play.

It is such a pitty I cant use widescreen lcd to watch wmv9.

Kind of outlines why people should encode media in accordance with international standards, rather than in a format that only one player on one OS can run. :)
