I have a similar problem - All the icons I had have reverted but i cannot change the mail or safari icons by using the "get info" feature and pasting the new icon. Any ideas ppl?

You could try using the 'Candy Bar' app by the Iconfactory. It's an easy app that I use to change icons on my Mac's. As far as I know there is no way for you to restore the app icons you once had. Sorry..

For me I lost some of the icons (like my applications folder) , but I kept backups and was able to reapply them simply by doing the usual get info and pasting on.

I had a backup of my icons on another machine so I just imported them again

Yeah, the icons aren't the problems, I have copies of them. But it won't let me "paste" the ones I want over the Safari and Mail icons
