Cheating the App Store: PR firm has interns post positive reviews for clients (http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2009/08/22/cheating-the-app-store-pr-firm-has-interns-post-positive-reviews-for-clients/)

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

I'd ban the clients so that this PR company is given such a bad name in the market that no one else will deal with them. They can't claim innocence if they knew it was happening.

Let's hope Apple does something.

Awful stuff. Not cool at all.

Not a shock though: with any gold rush, there's people willing to loosen their morals for financial gain.

Oh dear. It's a real shame to see such high profile developers using such dodgy PR tactics.

My suggestion would be for Apple to start tracking these reviewers and contacting the developers that are obviously paying for fake reviews. I think it would be fair to give them a warning to start cleaning up their act (after all, there are a few very good developers paying Reverb here), and if they ignore it, ban them from the store.
