Hi everyone,

Having a bit of a problem with the following.

When connecting to a Windows XP Professional workstation via my Mac OS X iBook I recieve the following error message:

Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occured
(Error code - 50).

When i select try again the same problem occurs.

I am able to see the server within the Network Part of finder and I have checked all the settings on the LAN on the Windows XP based computer. Everything appears to be cool.

I'm assuming it's got something to do with the Network Share properties no doubt on the Windows XP computer.

Anyway,
Any ideas beside that one?

Instead of browsing, try connecting directly to the share.

Go -> Connect to server

address: smb://computername/sharename

Ensure you put in the correct username and password. I've seen the mysterious "-50" error pop up before, and it has usually gone away when someone specifies the share rather than browsing for it.

Try disabling other network interfaces (like Airport). Try a different cable, router plug etc.
