I bought, thinking was the right one, a Mini-DVI to HDMI cable just to find out that my Macbook Unibody have Mini Displayport.
Any idea what should I do now? :(

Hong Kong via eBay... but the problem remains... Can I find around the right one? Does it exist?

Get a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor into which you can plug a HDMI-HDMI cable.

cplicious was selling some on the forums - try a search. I think there's now a link to a website.

Lazy me - I bought one off my local Apple reseller (Beyond the Box, Moonee Ponds) for the princely sum of $45 (plus I really wanted one straight away).

You can also use Mini-DisplayPort to DVI.

DX has a miniDP to HDMI female dongle now for US$17.
DealExtreme: $16.75 Mini DisplayPort Male to HDMI Female Adapter (1080p) (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.27549)

I've been selling them through my website so if the ebay one turns out to be no good check out Cables For Mac (http://www.cablesformac.com.au)

I have heard some people having problems with the cheaper adapters purchased off ebay.

Damn chinese imports kill the local market. It costs me $5.50 just to ship these things!

What is the problem with the eBay one? You didn't explain... :)

Just heard rumors that some of the cheaper adapters don't work that well. I've never seen or used the cheap ebay versions so can't speak from personal experience.

I'm looking to buy a mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptor from either Deal Extreme or off eBay but most specify 1080P resolution but my 24" monitor does 1920*1200 so will these work or do I have to buy the official Apple adaptor?

Has anyone bought such an adaptor off eBay?

Any MDP to DVI adaptor will be fine.
I don't have personal experience though so can't comment on the eBay ones, except to say that if the item doesn't match the description PayPal will generally give you your money back without even having to return the iten.

Just to follow-up, I ended up buying a Mini- DisplayPort to DVI adaptor from an eBay seller for $8 and it works fine. I also bought a Firewire 800 to 400 adaptor from another eBay seller and that works fine too. just goes to show that you can save a little money for these by not having to buy through Apple.
