Is there an easy (quick) way to change the bulk change the file extensions of multiple files from one extension to another?

Also is there a way to bulk change the file names of a bunch of files that all start with the same thing? eg: 123001, 123002, 123003 to xyz001, xyz002, xyz003

There's an Applescript that should work for that purpose:

Use Automator.

You'll spend 10 minutes figuring out how to do it, but after that it's a single button.

If you can do it manually in less than 10 minutes though...

EDIT: Go with Prince's Applescript.

To enable the Applescript icon in the right hand side menubar, run AppleScript Utility (found in /Applications/Applescript) and you can check the box labeled "Show Script Menu in menu bar".
