I was wondering how much bigger the 17" MBP was over the 15" MBP so I modeled them all up for comparison. It's interesting to note that the 17" is not that much bigger then the 15"...

Here's a 3D PDF if anyone is interested in comparing sizes.

That's because the 17" is too big for the pdf paper size :D

Guys its a 3D model in a PDF so you can rotate around and zoom in and out by holding down the mouse button and moving around (scroll wheel/pinch? for zoom). Might need to update acrobat if you can't see it.

I have both, the size difference between the 15" and 17" is not that different. The weight difference is less than a 600ml coke.

Ah no wonder, I was using Preview.

600grams is a fair chunk when were talking 2-3KG's though. Now that the 15" is available in Matt I think I will have to go with that...

to be honest, i think its a big physical difference.
the 17 inch is a huge laptop, Really, any laptop thats 17 inch should be considered a desktop replacement with the occasional/rare portable use.

different people see 17" from many angles. i can get away with lugging my 17" to uni with no worries (165cm, 78kg), but i can guarantee you that certain people will not touch a 17" for portable use.
