Just wondering if anyone may know when the next lot of MBP's will be released? Looking at getting a new one but not sure if I should wait.

Thanks

Next year I'd say, or at least towards Xmas time.

Thanks for your replies.

Is there much difference between the 2008 MBP and the current one's?

Apple Updates MacBook Pro Family with New Models & Innovative Built-in Battery for Up to 40 Percent Longer Battery Life (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2009/06/08mbp.html)

Some points:

40% longer battery life up to 7 hours and up to 1000 cycles
Improved LED-backlit on all MBPs
Greater colour intensity
SD Card
FireWire 800
Cheaper
13" added to MBP family
4GB of RAM across the line
Up to 8GB of RAM
Up to 500GB HDD
Up to 256GB SSD
Up to 3.06GHz

These depend on which model you're looking at e.g. 13/15/17".

I'm currently borrowing my mums 15" MBP with these specs

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP51.0074.B01
SMC Version (system): 1.33f8

I'm deciding on weather to keep this one and buy mum the 13" MBP (Base model) as she doesn't do graphics on it, just the basics. I got a price of $2310 for the 13" with Applecare and an airport express thrown in (which I'll use).

What do you think?

I think that price is pretty reasonable.

That is a Unibody (2008) you have there on the 15".

Yep, it's a Unibody.

Now is definitely the best time to buy a MacBook.
MacRumors agrees. (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook_Pro)

Just to be picky my 13" macbook pro which is the latest release only has 2GB, not 4. Mind you I think it is only the base spec 13" which doesn't have 4GB, and it will only set you back $100 to upgrade yourself.

So which one is better?

The 15" 2008 unibody 2.4GHz MBP or the latest 13" Base model MBP?

Would like to buy tomorrow so I need to make a decision.

Yes you're right :)

I was just quoting from the Apple press release and also the fact that Pink is on a 15" so I assume she'd want 15" too.

Then again, I did add that disclaimer at the bottom (that it varies depending on 13/15/17" since not all are available).

Tough to compare since it's 15" and 13". Look at the specs and size etc and determine what you want.

Where on my mac does it show how much GB the hard drive has?

Do a Get Info (command + i) on Macintosh HD.

It will tell you under Capacity.

You should have 250GB by default on that MBP 15". 160GB on the base model 13" MBP currently.

These are easily swappable.

Thanks for your help. Have decided to keep the 15" and buy the 13" for mum. :)
